COLUMBIA, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) — A new training center opened Thursday to prepare South Carolina workers for thousands of jobs coming to the state’s growing electric vehicle industry.
The facility, called “Cornerstone,” will train about 4,000 future workers for Scout Motors’ under-construction plant just north of Columbia. The workers will learn skills needed to build electric trucks and SUVs expected to roll out in 2027.
