Developer pitches a 400-home subdivision in Lexington. Here’s where it would go.

A regional property development company wants to build more than 400 single-family homes to a growing neighborhood in Lexington County.

The 402 housing units pitched by development group Mungo Homes would sit on 174 acres of empty land in Red Bank, a fast-growing suburb of Columbia in Lexington County. The unincorporated community, just south of the county seat, has seen explosive growth in recent years.

The project, if approved by the Lexington County Council, would include single family homes ranging between 9,000 and 11,000 square feet in size. It’ll go before the county’s planning commission Nov. 20 and later head to county council for approval.

The homes would be situated between South Lake Drive, Buck Corley Road and Vernon Drive. When reached by a reporter with The State, developers for the project declined to provide further details…
