Columbia apartment fire on Thanksgiving displaces four residents

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Multiple residents were displaced from their homes on Thanksgiving day following an apartment fire in Columbia.

The fire happened around 11 a.m. on Byron Road. Columbia Richland Fire Chief Aubrey Jenkins said the fire was upgraded to two alarms when arriving firefighters found flames coming from the top of the two story apartment building when they arrived.

Chief Jenkins said no injuries were reported and only one of the residents was home at the time of the fire. However, four apartments were damaged, displacing a total of four people. Jenkins said one of the apartments didn’t have a tenant…
