COLUMBIA, S.C. — Richland County leaders are considering a change that could expand where manufactured homes are allowed.
During a County Council meeting earlier today, a proposed ordinance was discussed that would permit manufactured homes to be in additional residential zoning areas. according to county leaders, the proposed ordinance would update the county’s land development code to include manufactured homes in the R3 zoning designation, for medium housing density.
County officials say neighborhoods would have to meet certain criteria before new manufactured homes could be developed. Specifically, at least 50% of a community block would need to already consist of manufactured homes for additional units to be approved.
