COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) -A new school designed for students with disabilities is set to open in downtown Columbia next August. Opa’s Learning Academy is the vision of Scott and Virginia Wells, parents who understand firsthand the challenges families face.
The couple has three sons — one with cerebral palsy and another with autism. They say balancing therapies, school, and extracurricular activities can be overwhelming.
“The problem is it just gets really difficult on the family trying to schedule all the therapies outside of school, trying to get them involved in extracurricular activities and just keeping up with his basic needs,” Virginia Wells said…
