Driver taken into custody after officer-involved shooting

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. (WACH) — A New York man has been charged after a Wednesday traffic stop in Batesburg-Leesville ended with an officer injured and police firing at a fleeing vehicle, authorities said.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department notified local law enforcement that two individuals in a Honda Accord were attempting to pass counterfeit money at local liquor stores on Wednesday afternoon.
