MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — Food stamp users in South Carolina will soon no longer be able to purchase candy, sodas, or energy drinks with SNAP benefits after federal regulators recently approved a request by Gov. Henry McMaster.
The policy, which takes effect in August, met with support with several Grand Strand shoppers.
U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said last week the move marks “historic steps to reverse the chronic diseases epidemic that has taken root in this country for far too long,” granting McMaster’s request as part of the Trump administration’s “Make America Healthy Again” initiative…
