Security tightens at Columbia menorah lighting amid global Jewish safety concerns

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Families and faith leaders gathered on the South Carolina State House grounds Monday night for the Midlands’ annual menorah lighting, a tradition that has spanned more than two decades.

Organizers say this year’s event carried added significance as Jewish communities worldwide continue to grapple with rising safety concerns.
