Multiple inmates charged in stabbings, assaults at South Carolina prisons

(WACH) — Multiple inmates at South Carolina prisons have been charged in separate violent incidents involving stabbings and assaults, according to warrants.

Ten inmates were charged with second-degree assault and battery by mob following a Feb. 6 incident at Lee Correctional Institution in which an inmate was stabbed and beaten, sustaining significant injuries.

The following inmates were charged:

  • Tavis A. Colston, 28.
  • Gerald C. Bryant Jr., 33.
  • Shemar J. Dewitt, 24.
  • Windoff T. Douglas, 25.
  • Johnquaviu L. Kelly, 22.
  • Tio S. Rhodes, 40.
  • Nigel C. Thompson, 23.
  • Alvin Anderson, 30.
  • Nikeen D. Johnson, 32.
  • Michael. Fowler, 33.

At Broad River Correctional Institution on Aug. 1, Tamyajah K. Lindsay, 19, and Dakari Johnson, 18, were charged after an inmate was attacked with a shank and fists. Lindsay faces second-degree assault and battery, and a prisoner carrying a concealed weapon.
