MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Millions of people are traveling to make it home for Christmas, and scammers are targeting holiday travelers with multiple schemes designed to steal money and personal information.

The Better Business Bureau warns that scammers are using fake rental car websites that appear professional while promising cheap deals. These fraudulent sites collect personal information and payment details, leaving travelers stranded without a vehicle and a hit to their wallets.

The busy holiday travel period is well underway in the two-state region as a record 122.4 million Americans are venturing at least 50 miles from home.
