Bitty & Beau’s Coffee Shop closes, owners open new inclusive project

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A downtown Columbia coffee shop known for employing people with disabilities is reopening with an expanded mission.

The former Bitty and Beau’s Coffee location at the corner of Gervais and Park streets closed its doors 18 months after opening in May of last year. The franchise owners, Brandon and Ashley Abbott, have mutually agreed to part ways with the national company and plan to reopen as Shiloh Trading Company, a western-inspired bistro.

“It’s the same owners, but just changing missions. So the name Bitty and Beau’s, that name and that model will be no longer,” Brandon Abbott said.

The store will undergo construction for several weeks before reopening. The new bistro will continue serving coffee but will add more food options, including grab-and-go meals…
