RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Drivers who rely on Lorick Road near Blythewood will soon need to adjust their daily routines as the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) prepares to close a bridge over the North Branch for repairs.
The closure begins Jan. 5 and is expected to last until Jan. 22. During that time, traffic will be detoured to nearby routes, adding time to commutes for residents who travel the two-lane road each day. According to SCDOT data, about 1,400 vehicles travel along Lorick Road daily. For Blythewood resident Aaron Johnson, that includes trips to and from downtown for work.
