Upstate, WNC hospitals welcome first babies of 2026

SOUTH CAROLINA (FOX Carolina) – Several Upstate and Western North Carolina hospitals are celebrating the first births of 2026.

AnMed

Anderson residents Katherine Sauceda and Brian Gomez welcomed their baby boy, Gael Gomez-Sorto, at 3:33 a.m. He weighed 7 pounds, 11.5 ounces, the hospital said.

Prisma Health’s Patewood Hospital

Hayden and Jordan Young welcomed their baby boy, Bluford Young, at 1:07 a.m. He weighed just over 10 pounds, the hospital said.
