Suspect arrested in deadly Friday night shooting in Columbia, police say

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Police are investigating a deadly Friday night shooting and have announced an arrest.

The department announced on Sunday that it had arrested Michael Hampton II on charges of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, first-degree burglary, kidnapping and first-degree assault and battery following a shooting in the 200 block of Westwood Avenue.

Officers arrived at the scene just before midnight where they found an unresponsive male with gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Services pronounced him dead at the scene…
