400+ acres under consideration for rezoning in northeast Richland County; town hall meeting called for Jan. 7

COLUMBIA, S.C. — In the next few weeks, Richland County will hear from landowners and developers about the proposal to rezone over 400 acres in northeast Richland County, near the Blythewood area.

Councilwoman Gretchen Cooper, representing District 7, along with County Planning staff, will be hosting a town hall meeting for the community to discuss the proposed rezoning and possible development of the land parcels.

The properties proposed for rezoning include:

  • AG to R3 (88.6 acres); S/S Wison Blvd.
  • AG/HM to R3 (157.44 acres); 214 Blythebrook Road
  • AG to R4 (155.55 acres); Koon Store Road and 9301 Wilson Blvd
  • SW Wilson Boulevard and Turkey Farm Road (upcoming rezoning request)

Currently, the acreage in question is zoned AG or HM, meaning agricultural or homestead usage. The proposed rezoning would be for R3 (single-family medium-density) or R4 (single-family high-density) development…
