Family: Man tried to save girlfriend before he was struck, killed by car in Columbia’s Vista

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Columbia Police are releasing new details about a fatal crash in the Vista Sunday night that left one person dead and sent another to the hospital.

The crash happened just after 10 p.m. Sunday at Gervais and Park Streets. Columbia Police said a man driving a vehicle, 29-year-old Randall Miller, ran a stop light and hit a man and a woman who were crossing the street in a crosswalk section. The man was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead. The woman continues to receive treatment at the hospital.
