CDC makes changes to childhood immunization schedule

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) — As kids are heading back to school after the holiday break, new childhood vaccine recommendations have been released, including changes to the universally recommended ones.

Under these updated childhood vaccine guidelines, the total number of vaccines recommended for children dipped from 17 to 11. Vaccines are now being divided into three categories: recommended for all children, certain high risk groups, and shared clinical decision making.
