Food Network star Kardea Brown to speak at Richland Library in January

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Richland Library will welcome acclaimed Food Network star and New York Times bestselling author Kardea Brown for a special author talk later this month focused on Gullah Geechee foodways, heritage and her newest cookbook.

The free community event is scheduled for Friday, January 16, 2026, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Richland Library Main, located at 1431 Assembly St. in Columbia. Brown will discuss her latest cookbook, Make Do with What You Have, which explores creativity and resourcefulness in Southern cooking.

During the program, Brown will be joined in conversation by KJ Kearney, a James Beard Award–winning content creator and founder of Black Food Fridays. Together, they will reflect on Brown’s culinary journey, the inspiration behind her new book and the cultural traditions of Gullah Geechee foodways that influence her work…
