Flu deaths rise in North Carolina as measles outbreak grows in South Carolina

NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Health officials in both North and South Carolina are warning of growing public health concerns as flu-related deaths climb in North Carolina and measles cases continue to rise in South Carolina.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health reported that the ongoing measles outbreak has reached 211 confirmed cases, with additional infections expected in the coming weeks and months.

Most of the newly reported cases are linked to known exposures. 19 cases involved household members or previously identified school exposures. Four were connected to a church, one case remains undetermined and two others are still under investigation, according to state health officials…
