(WACH) — Richland County officials are warning taxpayers who mail payments that a recent U.S. Postal Service change could cause payments to be postmarked later than expected, potentially triggering late penalties for 2025 real estate taxes.
Under a USPS policy announced late last year, first-class mail is no longer postmarked when it arrives at a local post office. Instead, postmarks are applied when mail is processed at a regional facility.
