Villa Tronco unveils historical marker

Villa Tronco has earned its many accolades over the years, from being the oldest restaurant in South Carolina to owners Carmella and Joe Roche receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (SCRLA). Now, the family owned and operated spot can add another achievement to its metaphorical trophy case.

For over 85 years, Villa Tronco has served up quality Italian food to Columbia, and their legacy was honored with a South Carolina Historical Marker, which was unveiled during a ceremony outside the restaurant on Jan. 13.

The ceremony was attended by the family, community members and even figures in local politics, who shared how they had been impacted by their experiences at Villa Tronco and its continued efforts to provide for the community…
