Columbia’s former Kline Steel site to become 202-unit apartment complex after 22 years vacant

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Plans are moving forward to redevelop part of the long-vacant former Kline Steel & Iron property in the Vista area of downtown Columbia.

The site, located along Huger Street next to the South Carolina State Museum, has sat empty since 2004. After nearly two decades of discussion about redevelopment, new city-approved permits suggest progress is finally underway.
