West Columbia man sentenced to federal prison after possessing a gun as a convicted felon

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The U.S. Department of Justice announced the sentencing of a Columbia man.

U.S. District Judge Sherri A. Lydon sentenced Phillip O’Neal McCoy to 77 months in prison, followed by three years of court-ordered supervision. There is no parole in the federal system.

The U.S. attorney for the District of South Carolina said evidence shown in court revealed that agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives identified McCoy as a felon involved in the unlawful sale of guns and drugs in the West Columbia area…
