Columbia man sentenced to federal prison after hiding gun at local business

COLUMBIA, S.C. — According to federal prosecutors, Doron Guider, 27, of Columbia, was sentenced to more than three years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

On Jan. 9, 2025, officers with the Columbia Police Department responded to a complaint about a man with a handgun at an extended stay hotel on Forest Drive. Officers searched the area and were directed to a nearby store, where a manager and employee reported the suspect had entered the business.

With help from employees, officers reviewed surveillance video showing Guider inside the store. Police later found him after he changed into clothing marked for sale. Further review of the video showed Guider hiding a handgun between two pallets inside the business, along with his original clothing. Officers recovered both the firearm and the clothing…
