COLUMBIA, S.C. — A man who shot and killed his friend during a dispute over a card game has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, according to the Fifth Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
Emanuel Griffin pleaded guilty on Jan. 6 to voluntary manslaughter in the death of 23-year-old Corey Andrews. Judge Thomas W. McGee III sentenced Griffin to 18 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
The case stems from a shooting on Nov. 15, 2021. Officers with the Columbia Police Department responded to a report of shots fired on Kennedy Street, where they found Andrews unresponsive on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to his chest. Andrews later died from his injuries…
