Columbia man sentenced to federal prison for being a felon in possession of a gun

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – The Justice Department announced the sentencing of a man for a 2023 shooting.

U.S. District Judge Joseph F. Anderson Jr. sentenced Brandon Chanell Joyner, 29, of Columbia, to 15 years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a gun. There is no parole in the federal system.

Evidence from the investigation revealed that in July 2023, law enforcement responded to the corner of Greystone Boulevard and Stoneridge Drive after a witness said he saw a man firing a gun into the air.
