Court finds GPS company owner in contempt after monitoring lapses on violent offenders

LOWCOUNTRY, S.C. (WCIV) — A man was found to be in contempt of court after his GPS monitoring company, Divine Providence GPS Monitoring, which has provided services to courts across South Carolina, failed to monitor approximately 144 defendants statewide, and furthermore proved to not be a qualified or approved GPS monitoring provider as required by South Carolina law, according to the First Circuit Solicitor David Pascoe.

Denaro Ponds, the owner of Divine Providence GPS, is being held at a local detention center after the Solicitor’s Office was notified by Nationwide GPS Monitoring, a company that supplies GPS monitoring equipment and software to Divine Providence GPS, that the two entities are engaged in a contractual dispute

Nationwide GPS Monitoring reportedly stated that they terminated their contract with Divine Providence GPS on January 8, 2026. They state that from that date forward Divine Providence GPS did not properly monitor over a hundred defendants, 49 of which were located in Dorchester, Calhoun, and Orangeburg counties…
