Former SCDOT officials indicted on corruption charges involving contractors

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Two former officials at the South Carolina Department of Transportation are now facing state indictments linked to alleged corruption.

The South Carolina Attorney General’s Office said indictments against James Cooper and Curtis Sims, Jr., were returned by the South Carolina State Grand Jury on Thursday.

Cooper and Sims are each charged with counts of use of official position or office for financial gain, as well as acceptance of rebates or extra compensation. Sims was additionally charged with receiving anything of value to influence the action of a public official…
