Richland County, S.C. (WACH) — A third suspect charged in the shooting death of a South Carolina man whose body was found inside a burning car along Interstate 20 appeared before a judge Friday, as the victim’s family mourns what they describe as a shocking and senseless loss.
Authorities say 32-year-old James Smith was fatally shot early Monday morning while driving on I-20, near Alpine Road, in Richland County. State troopers initially responded around 2 a.m. to reports of a crash and a vehicle on fire in Northeast Columbia. When first responders arrived, they discovered Smith dead inside the car from a gunshot wound, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
Investigators have charged Cedric Holloman, D’Andre Burris and Gequanta Clea in connection with Smith’s death. Clea appeared in bond court Friday at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. Burris appeared before a judge a day earlier…
