Columbia man gets a decade in prison for his actions in Myrtle Beach

A Columbia man got 10 years in prison for domestic violence, fentanyl and firearm charges.

Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson said Jaquis Derrick, 25, of Columbia, pleaded guilty to first-degree domestic violence, possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Joshua Holford, the senior assistant solicitor who prosecuted the case for the solicitor’s office, said in June 2025, Derrick physically assaulted and strangled the victim in front of minor children…
