New Publix planned in Blythewood brings excitement and traffic questions

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — Residents of Blythewood say they are excited after learning a new Publix grocery store is planned for their community. Publix recently announced it has signed a lease for a new store at the northwest corner of Highway 21 and Turkey Farm Road.

In a statement to News19, the company said it has received numerous requests from people in the area asking for a location in Blythewood. “We’ve received numerous requests to open a store in Blythewood, and we’re pleased to be able to meet that demand,” the company said.

Company officials say the store will span nearly 55,000 square feet and is expected to create about 150 jobs…
