South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley showed her class toward former Gamecocks star MiLaysia Fulwiley after getting the last laugh on the weekend against LSU.
Fulwiley was facing her former team for a second time this campaign after transferring away from the Gamecocks after last season. The guard had a difficult outing in the first meeting with the Gamecocks, finishing with just six points while shooting 1-for-8 from the field and committing three turnovers across 23 minutes as South Carolina claimed a 79–72 victory.
When the teams met again in the SEC Tournament on March 7, the result was the same, but Fulwiley’s performance was far stronger. She erupted for a game-high 24 points on 10-of-21 shooting in 35 minutes, though the Gamecocks still prevailed 83–77.
