Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina faces a competitive race for the GOP gubernatorial nomination and is neck-and-neck with South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson, according to a new poll.

Early polls in South Carolina’s 2026 Republicangovernor‘s primary have featured Mace as a front-runner, yet a large portion of the electorate remains unsure. Mace, a well-known ally of President Donald Trump, has drawn national attention for her outspoken positions on state and national policy including transgender laws, abortion and her efforts to censure Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in September. She has also vocally broken with the president over the Jeffrey Epstein files, pushing for more transparency.
Wilson has served as the state’s attorney general since 2011. He has sought to block same-sex marriages in the state, with the South Carolina Supreme Court rejecting his request in 2014.
