Two local teachers named finalists for SC State Teacher of the Year

(WJBF) – South Carolina State Superintendent of Education, Ellen Weaver, made surprise visits to two CSRA teachers Friday.

Weaver visited Kaitlyn Rhodes and Dr. Christie Palladino to give them the news that they are two of five finalists for State Teacher of the Year, and to present them with $10,000 each.

“We all remember a teacher who changed our lives. And so to be able to celebrate these teachers who are changing lives every day, I can’t imagine a more joyful part of my own job,” smiled Weaver.

Kaitlyn Rhodes teaches agriculture education at the Governor’s School for Agriculture in McCormick. Rhodes, who has been a teacher for 3 years, told NewsChannel 6 that education runs in the family…
