Dozens felt overnight earthquake in South Carolina, data shows

LAKE MURRAY, S.C. (WBTV) – Dozens of people reportedly felt an earthquake in central South Carolina early Thursday morning.

The 2.1-magnitude earthquake struck around 2:30 a.m. on March 19, and had an epicenter near River Road close to Lake Murray, according to data from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).

As of approximately 8:15 a.m., 77 people told the USGS they felt the early-morning quake. Of those people, none felt more than weak shaking. Earthquakes of such magnitude do not typically cause any damage…
