2 S.C. teens escape after alleged kidnapping, shooting

COLUMBIA, S.C. – A Midlands man is now facing more charges after allegedly kidnapping two teenage girls and taking them across county lines.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department said 21-year-old Darrius Gilmore faces two counts each of kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Gilmore was already charged with counts of kidnapping, attempted murder and weapons charges in Calhoun County.

Authorities said the teenage girls, both 15, arrived at Gilmore’s home via an Uber in the early morning hours of March 28. RCSD noted that investigators believe Gilmore and the victims knew each other and that they “arranged to meet and party together” at a location on Killian Lakes Drive.

Calhoun County Chief Deputy Matt Trentham said Tuesday that at some point, Gilmore accused the girls of stealing from him before forcing them into his car at gunpoint and bound them with tape. He then drove around and later took them to what was described as a remote location in Calhoun County…
