In 2001, the Main Street District was founded to manage the Business Improvement District (BID). Since then, the district has become one of Columbia’s economic hubs, full of new and old businesses alike, and has become cleaner and safer with the Main Street Ambassador program. Following Main Street’s success, the Vista is now looking to do the same with the Vista BID.
Business Improvement Districts are common fare across the nation in major metros, and are a proven model designed to help create and sustain more vibrant, attractive and economically resilient places. The Vista BID goals are: a clean and safe environment, economic prosperity, unified leadership and district identity.
A BID accomplishes these goals by having area property owners pay a fee in order to fund the extra services, but that’s the price of doing business. Any money put into the Vista BID will stay in the Vista, and residents and property owners will see it come to fruition in their community…
