COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – Members of the Columbia Garden Club dedicated a statue of their founder during a celebration of its 100th anniversary Friday.
Club members dedicated the life-sized bronze statue of Sarah Smith Boylston at her historic home on the Governor’s Mansion and Gardens Property.
Members said that Boylston helped create a garden space to welcome all South Carolinians and visitors to the state capital. They also praised Boylston’s legacy, saying that her garden’s beauty reflects the people of South Carolina and that the new statue will serve as a lasting reminder of her service to the state…
