Teen arrested after firing shots at Lexington County park near Chapin

CHAPIN, S.C. (WIS) – Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested one man at Crooked Creek Park near Chapin Saturday for allegedly firing shots into the air while at an event.

Najee Thompson, an 18-year-old Newberry resident, is charged with pointing and presenting a firearm, use of a firearm by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs and breach of peace.

According to the incident report, Thompson told responding deputies that he fired the shots because he thought the park was “the country.”…
