Sunday marks 1-year anniversary of murder of Logan Federico

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — Sunday, May 3rd marks the 1-year anniversary of the murder of 22-year-old Logan Federico from Waxhaw, North Carolina.

Logan’s father, Stephen Federico, posted the following message on social media on Saturday, writing, “In Logan Federico’s case – the accused was arrested 39 times of those arrests 23 were felonies! Tomorrow (Sunday) will be the 2nd most difficult day of our lives! The day evil took Logan ! Just imagine how many other crimes he committed and didn’t get caught! Our beautiful daughter Logan Federico should still be here today! We shouldn’t have the struggles we have to deal with tomorrow because of systemic failures of the South Carolina judicial system! A significant percentage of criminals reoffend. According to the Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS), 68% of released prisoners were arrested within 3 years, 79% within 6 years, and 83% within 9 years. The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) notes that within 10 years of release, 82% of individuals released from state prisons were rearrested at least once.”
