Muscogee County officials announce tentative property tax increase

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Officials with the Muscogee County Board of Education announced on Thursday that district has tentatively adopted a 2026 millage rate that will require an increase in property taxes by 2.07%.

According to officials, this tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 23.075 mills, an increase of .467 mills. Without the tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 22.608 mills.

Officials said that the proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $200,000 is approximately $49.74, and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $250,000 is approximately $70.05…
