Hot and humid, number of storms starts to increase over the weekend

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – A ridge of high pressure that has prevented too many showers and storms the last few days starts to break down over the weekend and especially early next week. This will allow more scattered storms over the weekend. It looks even more unsettled early next week as a front stalls out right on top of us.

Mostly sunny to partly cloudy Friday. Hot and steamy with highs in the low to mid 90s; it will feel more like the upper 90s to near 100 degrees. A couple handfuls of widely spaced pop up storms are in the forecast during the afternoon and early evening. Rain coverage around 20 to 30%.
