Rain returns to cool things down as summer heat takes a brief break

Columbus, Ga. (WRBL)-After several days of hotter-than-average temperatures, we’re finally getting some much-needed rain—and that’s welcome news. The added cloud cover and scattered showers will help knock temperatures back to near or even slightly below average for the start of the week.

On Monday, expect scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms to develop as a weak area of low pressure and a weak front move across the region. That’s exactly the kind of weather setup we need to spark more widespread rain chances.

High temperatures on Monday will top out around 90 degrees, with rain coverage gradually diminishing later in the day. As we head into Tuesday and Wednesday, expect highs in the lower 90s, before temperatures climb back into the mid-90s by Thursday as sunshine becomes more dominant…
