Soldier, girlfriend could face life in prison after baby, dog starve to death

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WKRC) — A Fort Benning soldier and his girlfriend are facing murder, child cruelty and animal cruelty charges after they allegedly neglected their infant son and dog to the point they both starved to death.

According to a federal indictment, 22-year-old Emma Bradshaw and 23-year-old Ladarrion McCray willfully deprived their son of necessary food and nutrition between Jan. 14 and 28, which led to the boy’s death. The couple had been living in on-post housing at the time of the infant’s death.

Per WTVM, Army Criminal Investigation Division agents searched the couple’s home on Jan. 28 and found two dogs that appeared to be severely malnourished and were suffering from muscle wasting. A third dog, a Dachshund, was found dead in a trash can outside the home. A medical examiner confirmed the dog died of starvation…
