Lee County woman charged in underage drinking party tied to deadly teen shooting

LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WRBL) — A Lee County woman has been arrested after investigators said she allowed underage drinking at a house party where a fatal shooting later occurred.

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a 911 call on July 11 about a shooting in the 800 block of Lee Road 197. When deputies arrived, they found 18-year-old Anthony Onochie of Columbus suffering from a gunshot wound. He later died from his injuries.

Investigators said their investigation determined 40-year-old Amber Holly Mott was hosting an open house party and knowingly allowed multiple people under the age of 21 to consume liquor inside her home.

On July 28, Mott was arrested and charged with Open House Party, a Class B misdemeanor. She was booked into the Lee County Detention Center, posted a $1,000 bond, and has since been released…
