A combination of special teams’ play, a ball-hawking defense that intercepted three Brookstone High passes and an outstanding ground game proved to be the winning formula for Glenwood School last week as the Gators swamped the Cougars 49-19 at Sammy Howard Field.
For the second week in a row weather interfered with the game as lightning strikes delayed the start of the contest to 8:45. Brookstone must have felt that lightning hit them again when Jayden Hart took the game’s opening kickoff and raced 88 yards for a Glen-wood touchdown and a 7-0 lead with only 12 seconds off the clock.
Before the first quarter was over, the Gators had a 21-6 lead and used the running of Nate Malone and Trey Claridy and those key interceptions to send the Cougars to their third loss of the year…
