COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Columbus City Council heard renewed debate this week over a community cat colony in the Georgetown subdivision, weeks after the city requested that PAWS Humane Society remove the cats.
In a letter sent on Aug. 27, the Columbus Consolidated Government called the colony a nuisance and a “significant Public Health matter,” asking PAWS to complete the removal within 10 calendar days. The letter cited Section 5-21 of the city’s animal ordinances, which addresses removal of community cats for certain public health and safety concerns.
