COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – The city of Columbus is installing 30 automated external defibrillators in parks and recreational areas as part of a $160,000 project.
The AEDs will be placed along walking trails and in public spaces, giving people access to life-saving tools if someone goes into cardiac arrest.
Officials say devices target hard-to-reach areas
Interim Deputy Chief of EMS Brian Dorriety said the devices are being placed in strategic locations around the city where emergency vehicles have difficulty reaching patients.
“Having these stations around and throughout the city is very important,” Dorriety said. “It’ll help bridge the gap between the down victim and the time first emergency vehicles can show up on scene.”…
