COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Good Thursday morning! A cold front has pushed through the viewing area, bringing in a much cooler air mass to start the day. However, the front has not completely cleared out the gloomy weather just yet. We are still dealing with plenty of cloud cover across the region this morning, along with a few light showers moving through at times. Temperatures have fallen into the upper 60s in many locations, while a few communities are still holding onto readings in the lower 70s.
Unfortunately, clouds will remain stubborn for much of the morning and afternoon. The extensive cloud cover will help keep temperatures noticeably cooler than what we have experienced recently. Afternoon highs are expected to top out around 80 degrees, making for a comfortable day overall. It will also be a bit breezy at times, with wind gusts occasionally reaching 20 mph during the afternoon hours.
As we head into tonight, skies will gradually begin to clear from north to south. By daybreak Friday, most locations should be enjoying mostly clear conditions. The cooler air will be more noticeable overnight, with low temperatures falling into the upper 50s and lower 60s…
