COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – A Georgia Power customer says she almost deleted an email warning her that her personal information may have been exposed, because she thought it was a scam.
Georgia Power confirms an unauthorized third party accessed its online customer portal, exposing limited information for about 300,000 customers. The exposed data includes names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, and the last four digits of Social Security numbers. The company says bank numbers, card numbers, and driver’s license numbers were not involved.
